ACM DL BASIC SEARCH

Basic search on the ACM Digital Library significantly enhances the research experience for users by providing a streamlined way to access a vast array of academic resources. With its user-friendly interface, researchers can quickly locate relevant papers, conference proceedings, and journals tailored to their specific interests by utilizing keywords, author names, and publication dates. This targeted approach not only saves time but also ensures users stay updated on the latest advancements in their fields

Step to Access :

  • The Basic Search box is found at the top of the DL home page.
  • The Basic Search allows you to search for People, Publications, and Content
  • The Basic Search provides instant suggestions as you type:
  • Basic Search allows Boolean operators AND, OR and NOT (use capital letters)

Search Tab : Result, Videos, Software , People , Periodicals

The results on the search page results constitute articles, videos, software, people, and periodicals.

  • Result : These are peer-reviewed research papers
  • Video : This category includes recorded presentations, lectures, and tutorials
  • Software : This section features software tools, libraries, and frameworks developed by researchers.
  • People : This part of the results lists researchers, authors, or contributors within the ACM community.
  • Periodicals : This section refer to a collection of regularly published academic journals, magazines, and newsletters  

Available Filters

Refine your search by using the filters to find the most relevant content for you.

  • People : (Name , intuitions, author ,editors etc.)
  • Publications: ( journal/magazine name , content type, etc.)
  • Conferences : ( Sponsors , Conference event series)
  • Publication Date : ( Past 2 Year, Past 5 years )

e-Reader / PDF

When a user clicks the “e-Reader” button for a particular content or other digital content, it opens a reading interface where the user can read the content without having to download it . Option for users to download research articles, conference papers, and other publications in Portable Document Format (PDF). This feature allows users to access the full text of the documents for offline reading and easy sharing

ACM DL Advanced Search

ACM’s advanced search feature offers users a powerful tool to refine their research inquiries and find specific information more efficiently. The Advanced Search is right below the Basic Search box

Step to Access :

  1. Advanced Search is based on a filtering system that allows the user to refine their search parameters.
  2. User may select between searching Full-Text only or also including The Guide to Computing Literature bibliom
  3. User may search for words contained in article citation or other associated metadata.
  4. User may then add additional content filters such as  for terms related to article supplemental materials,  general computing subject area, publisher and more
  5. Finally, user may define the publication date range for  their search results
  6. Boolean operators AND, OR, and NOT can be applied
